Ashutosh Gowariker appointed Festival Director of 57th IFFI
NEW DELHI : The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has appointed filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker as the Festival Director for the 57th edition of the International Film Festival of India, scheduled to be held in Goa.
Mr. Gowariker, known for his contributions to Indian cinema, has had a long association with IFFI spanning several decades. He has previously participated in the festival in various capacities, including serving as Jury President for International Cinema in 2024.
Reacting to the appointment, Mr. Gowariker said he felt “immense pride and joy” at being entrusted with the role. He noted that his association with the festival dates back to 1984 and described the opportunity as both an honour and a responsibility.
“I look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of Goa to carry forward the legacy of the festival,” he said.
Established in 1952, IFFI is regarded as one of Asia’s leading film festivals and a key platform for showcasing global cinema and fostering cultural exchange.
