Congress Leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar No More, Snake Bite Suspected

Panaji : Congress leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar was declared dead at the Dharbandora Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the early hours of the morning after being brought in from the Biodiversity area of Mollem.

According to sources, Dr Bhatikar was transported to the PHC by a 108 ambulance at around 3:30 am. Upon arrival, he was examined by Dr Balakrishna, who declared him dead at approximately 3:45 am.

Medical officials stated that the deceased showed no signs of response during examination and that his lips had turned blue, raising suspicion of a possible snake bite.

Police were subsequently informed about the incident, and the body has been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities stated that all angles, including suspected snake bite, are being investigated.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said he was deeply saddened by the passing of Bhatikar.

“His unwavering commitment to public service will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives and friends during this time of grief. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Alemao said.

The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee paid tribute to its party leader and extended condolences to the bereaved family, as well as his friends and supporters.

In a post on X, it said, We are deeply saddened by the passing of party leader Dr Ketan Bhatikar. His unwavering dedication, commitment to public service, and contribution to the party and society will always be remembered with great respect and gratitude.”
